Over clocking

what is the most anyone has over clocked there computers cpu gpu or memory?

ive over clocked my amd atholon 3200+ up to 4000+ with a high tower cooler and some vortec fans... but after about 2 months i melted it lol i forgot that i had over clocked it and it went from spring to summer weather...

how do you know what a safe setting would be? obviously leave it where it is is safest, but when do you know your pushing the limits whithout it dying
