I think someones on my wireless netowrk but I can't see them

Just like title says, i think there's someone taking ALOT of my bandwith, but are somehow invisible to me, my wireless network only has mac acess control to keep down on passwords, and i'm only allowing my brothers computer through it's MAC adress list, but i think there's someone else connected, but there's nothing ever else on the DHCP list.

Am i going crazy?

Try this. Unhook your router for a while 30 min or so. Then connected it back up (without the modem hooked up) Clear out all settings (complete hard reset). Setup with a new password (including the basic login, you might even be able to change the user id (instead of admin on most routers) depending on the router). Then resetup the wireless side. Use WPA at least, WPA-SK with T (can't remember exact name of it, no wireless here). Then set your network IP accolation list for the exact amount of IP's that you will normally be using (ie set for 4 ips if you normally have 4 machines connected). Once you've resetup the router, reconnect it to your modem and see what your overall results are.

WPA-PSK would work as well. Using a preshared key, it's pretty hard to get access unless you share the info. Also a MAC address filter should block everything except the specific devices with the MAC addresses that you specify. You may need to upgrade the firmware on the router to take advantage of some of the security options though. You may want to try that.

Yea, locking it to the Mac adress seems reasonable.
WPA is pretty easy to crack, if im in a hotel I always get free Net access on their wireless router :lmao: .
But Mac adresses are impossible to change and quite hard to mask.

WEP is pretty poor encryption, WPA on the other hand should be enough for you unless you are a n0b at setting it up. In that case it's your own fault.
