banned because of word usage and maybe another reason

hey. i think rain banned me (user ID Luxury17) for calling him/her "bro" and "bra." im sorry if he/she sees it as offensive, but those terms are commonly used in my town (bro = man, bra = woman). so rain, when you said, "i'm not a bro," i called you bra because i thought you were a woman.

now its been over 45 minutes and when i connected back in, lifehouse kicked me out stating that it was "requested."

as for the other reason, it may be due to me looking for videos not on videopimps release list. i'm sorry, but why would i take 2-3 hrs to look through the list when in 5 minutes i can look up everything i want w/ the find option. also, rain, if i do find someone sharing files that i think may not be on the release list, i will let you know.

Join the channel, and copy/paste whatever the message is.

From what I've heard, youi were searching for files all nite last nite (and today) that we don't have. You can check on the release list (www.videopimp.com/releases) for a list of all the videos we have released.

and does it matter if i search the release list or search online? it shouldn't. it doesnt take any server time or webspace for me to search on IRC but takes 2-3 hours to look through the release list.

1. you can search on the release list on the website-- this will not lag the servers on efnet.
2. some of the servers yes do lag which can cause issues to others looking for our releases in the channel--- so why not just search them on the website? And not lag on efnet

You still haven't posted your actual ban. Until we get that info, I can't do shit about your ban. Up to you, unless someone else wants to comb thru their logfile looking for this fellow's ban. I don't have that kind of time to waste.

yes, i am a youth group leader, but what does my use of the word bro and bra have to do with it? absolutely nothing. if i want to say fuck, i will. words don't get you to heaven, blah blah blah, you dont want to hear it. (nothing against you.. just usually what most people say.)

bra is a womans undergarment... but in hawaii, bra is also a term used (to BOTH male and female) when talking to someone (as in, "hey bra"), just as "bro", "buddy", or "man" (as in, "hey man") is for some people in the mainland states. i'm not from hawaii, but i've got a bunch of kids in my youth group who are from there, so its a term used a lot. i'll refrain from using it in the chat though, as requested.

anyway, as for my actual ban, all i can give you is this:

there is no number sequence like asked for in the post note. maybe i'm looking in the wrong place? when i try to join the channel, i an booted and in the EFnet channel window, the above is all i get.

if i cant get the ban lifted, oh well. sooner or later i'll be on another ISP and that wont matter. nothing to do w/ isp invasion/change/misuse or whatever its called... just a matter of moving around a lot.

Once again, you need to post the actual ban information. Re-read the sticky post http://forums.vampyrezkave.com/showthread.php?t=12

then post the approiate information.

ie.
The actual ban msg is the best info to give.
ie. +b *!*@dsl-082-083-062-095.arcor-ip.net That tells us extactly what was banned. Please include this info in your post.

Ok here is my point to the bro and bra crap... do I call you dude or anything else then by the nick you use in the channel? To me (when you who does not even know me) calls me dude, bro,bra other anything else that is not my nick then it seems to me you are being disrespectful and rude.. Now I am only saying I feel this way, other females in the channel and on the forums may not share this feeling but I do and I try to make it known when someone is doing something that bothers me.

Today is my bday and I am older then you and have walked this earth longer then you so what I find as disrespectful is up to ME not you to decide. 2.And I never said I was the one who banned this person, I was stating my two cents worth.. I was just making it known that some of us find being called soemthign that is not part of our culture an issue how would you feel if I called you something from mine that bothered you.. think twice before you reply since it is not a question meant to be answered.

Now what code did your so called buddy/friend not get as far as I know there are no codes listed. When it comes to ban messages there are great things called logs and such that some of us ( the nice ones) will take the time to look for the ban messages and such but unless you come to the help chanel I have no clue when said person tried to join the channel let alone when to go looking for them to have tired to join.

Yes I do know of your so called "Logs" and I have used them. Also I know that you don't have to obtain it that way. But Luxury probrably found a new server to download off of and just gave up on this whole subject due to the fact that it is a run around.

Please quit hijacking threads. If you don't have a ban in place here, don't post here unless you have some sort of useful information to help the user. This is your warning.

Choose to say what you will, but if you call someone something offending in a channel where they have admin rights, you can expect some sort of backlash from it. Whether it's some harsh words back, a kick or a ban.

Now if the orginal poster, would simply attempt to join the channel or #videopimp.com we could see what the ban is, and resolve it. Until they want to take the time, we cannot do anything for them.
