These are the advantages of being a file server, after you have proven your worth, you get access to all the videos, old and new. It would not be cost effective to allow everyone access to it, as this would use the bandwidth in a matter of days, maybe less!

you have to be a consistent server, always online, available for downloads, etc.

Seriously though, you just have to become a server, or a ripper for a period of time the admins deem acceptable. It varies from person to person, but for a 20+ hour a day server, with good upload speeds, its somewhere in the region of 2-3 weeks serving
