Q: I want to tag my vids but I dont want a sig file on the end. I have seen other rip groups simply add text into the vid. How do I do this and what apps will I need?

REQUIRED: MSPaint or other Imaging software, Virtual Dub, Donald Graft logo 1.3 for Virtual Dub & TMPGEnc.
All of this is freeware that can all be found on the web by searching google or other engines.
QUICK AND DIRTY INSTRUCTIONS

WATERMARKING

Open your Image software
Create an image or text to be used with a black background
Save as BMP
open Virtual Dub
load the AVI
Video
Filters
Add
logo 1.3 beta
new window opens
click Browse
point to the BMP file you wanna use
under Transparent Color
set all to 0 (zero)
all setting are zero except for alpha which is 240
click on Show preview
you will see the logo
move the Y , X bars to where you want the logo displayed
bust out any simple calculator (either real or windows version is fine)
now on the preview window scroll slowly to where you want the logo to start
when scrolling you will see a frame number
now start scrolling with your arrows frame by frame (DONOT scroll with your mouse)
get to where the you want the watermark to start
enter that value in to "Starting Frame"
now with your arrow buttons on your keyboard again scroll forward to where you want the watermark to stop
enter that value in "Out End" at the bottom
figure out the difference between "Starting Frame" and "Out End" using a calculator if needed
enter that value in "Duration"

FADING(optional)
In Len and Out Len = Enter a number of frames you want to use to fade in/out with. In this case we will use 15
you may adjust your start point by subtracting the number you chose above
you may adjust your end point by adding the number you chose above
You will need to adjust your duration accordingly by adding double the number you

FRAMESERVING
preview and scroll through it and see if its to your liking
now open TMPGenc
go back to VDub
click OK on the logo filtrer
and click ok again
File
Start Frameserver
name your file something.vdr.avi
load that into TMPG as Video Source
now click Load
load your desired template (for our purposes we loaded a VCD 352x240 template)
click settings
click Advanced
double click Source range
scroll through the whole thing
pay attention to see where the logo comes out
set your start and end points
under Video Source type select Non-Interlaced
Video Arrange Method: No Margin (keep Aspect Ratio)
Source Aspect: 1:1
Field Order Bottom first
make sure Clip Frame is NOT checked unless there is a reason you are Clipping the frame
double click Deinterlace
select which looks best in th preview
either Odd field or Double
only use double when it looks really bad
set any other settings as needed
encode by clicking the Start button in TMPGENc


This is only one FREE method. There may be many others that are more automated that require expensive software such as Adobe Premier.
