Can someone please tell me what to do just to start, I downloaded the exe file and it doesn't work for mac so i was wondering if there is a program to use to download videos from video pimp, cause i really want the goo goo dolls ones :)

I use a Mac, and use jIRCii. Seems to be the best IRC application I have come across for DCC and chat. Conversation is also good as jIRCii doesn't have a complete server list (although I havn't updated for a while so new releases may have bigger server lists).

Just tweak the tutorial guides to what you see in front of you as they won't be the same (most tutorials are for mIRC, and there is no mIRC for Mac).

It seems there was one a while ago, but it's been removed.


I'm assuming you have your client set-up properly (ie. DCC options and nickname already done) to receive sends, and all this can be found in jIRCii > Preferences.

To join Videopimp,
In jIRCii, go Connection > Connect > Servers. In there choose 'EFnet: Random server' and click 'connect'

Then go to Commands > Join > Add. In there type '#videopimp' (without the 's) and click 'OK'

Then go back into Commands > Join and select #videopimp which now appears in the list.

You should now be connected in the VP IRC channel.

I saw 'The Videopimp IRC tutorial can be found HERE' at the top and clicked the link - only to find it didn't work so I thought the tutorial must be gone (it was for mIRC anyway, so wouldn't have been much use).

Henderson, head over to the link Vampyre provided and you'll find a tutorial for Ircle. I havn't used that app myself, but you can give it a try.

Nevermind I did it, but how to i actually downlaod the videos??

You've (correctly) set up your client to receive sends now, so just follow the commands in any tutorial you can find. I used the VP tutorial to help me find my way around IRC to begin with, so check that because it's pretty simple.

If you're doing things right, you'll be typing !list, '@find (insert artist or song)', '/ctcp xxxx' in the channel, and cd, dir, get in a server. Look for those things in the tutorial and follow what it says, then you'll be DL'ing vids.

Don't really know how much more we can help without spoon-feeding you. Basically follow the VP tutorial, its dead easy.

Alright So I have it all done but still nothing, i know what to do and everything but when I go get and then put the file in nothing happens it says it is invalid??
