Red face i'm setting up my new PC and still capping on my old PC

at least that's what i'm doing this week. i'm transferring most of my files and tools and getting a media input adapter for my new video card before i can install and test my capture software... i've been checking the forum and email on my usual loaner laptop but not been on irc lately as i continue my transferring and worrying. but i should be back soon. big thanks to VampYre who's been helping me out extremely and continues to work with me when things go wacky or wrong.

ok, so i've gotten as far as installing my ati multimedia center (mmc) software. and watching some live tv. now i just need some sort of users manual for the version 9.16 mmc. it works a little different than the 8.5 i'm so used to. my pre-sets for recording are only barely resembling my old possibilities and i get confused and uncertain easily... sigh. i've test-capped in yvu9 avi and that plays back later. but scheduling and mpeg-2 are more evading me. ONE major problem is that v9.08 and beyond use tv-on-demand nonstop. and i never used that before nor do i want it. keep wishing me luck or i'll be completely phased out. lol. once i get this working to my satisfaction i'll work on xvid encoding. finally!

Can you not use the older MMC with the current card?

i've been unsuccessful in installing either of the two older mmc versions. something is not liked somewhere.... i'm back on mmc 9.16 and it records to avi at least. i can play mpeg-2 files in my windows media players but not record them with mmc. sound gets muted if i try to record to any file format besides yvu9 avi (well, this is the large file avi i like. and since the other recordings don't exist after i've recorded them, i just didn't get to hear something i'll never hear... ARGH). watching live tv on this current drivers/software install shows interlaced video. i wish it didn't. haven't found a setting about these issues yet.
