    Default Bad HD

OK, so I have a problem with my F: Drive, that anytime I play a video from the drive, ti skips, or whenever I serve my videos off of the drive, and I'm playing music, my music skips, and it is quite annoying, and has caused me to not get on IRC often.

I wanted to try wiping my HD to see if that would fix the problem, but I need someone to hold my 42GB worth of files on the drive for me while I wipe it.

Anyone up for the job, or have any other suggestions on how to fix the problem.

P.S. I cannot buy another HD, I am too poor.

    formating won't help,
    check http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device...e/IDE-DMA.mspx

if it's not that then it's either some software that is eating up all your dma access to the drive or it's failling (but that would rather show up in other situations then just skipping when playing files).
Let the blood flow that keeps me alive
    (...)
    I need music
    I need music
I need music to set me free

Not sure exactly what this is telling me to do, but I went and set the drive to DMA, and the music still skips.

    Probably some damned hardware

Wanna send it to me via MSN as one big zip file...

Can't you transfer it over to another comp with a network cable or that?

Did you bother to actually test the hard drive to verify it's going bad? Your music could be skipping due to spyware or a virus. There are multiple reasons why, you need to actually troubleshoot it some.

Removed all spyware, and there are no virii, I searched with 3 different programs (norton 05, AVG Free, and TrendMicro PCcillin)

I found someone to hold the stuff. I had to delete most of my videos, but I have the minimum 50, and will be back serving within the week. No other comp in my house has enough room to hold all of the stuff. And I don't think that my parents want to hold porn/music videos for me anyways.

So, you never ran a hard drive test to check on your drive then?

Hard Drive test says it is fine. Which pisses me off, because I'll probably have to buy a new drive.

    Nope, unfortunately.

Actually thoguh, I did another check for errors, and it got through the first three steps, and froze on 0% on the File Verification. So, I think if I format it, it might do the trick.
